CLUB RULES
- Opening Times
- These are the club opening and closing times. We expect all members to have vacated the premises by the club closing time.If you require a shower, you must do so 15 minutes before the club closes.
2. The gym and changing rooms close 5 minutes before the club closes.
3. We reserve the right to terminate your membership if you delay the closing of the club at the advertised time.

- Membership/Milon Cards
- You must have your membership card with you when accessing the club, we may refuse entry without a valid membership card.
- If you lose your membership card, we will provide a replacement card at the cost of £5.
- If you lose your Milon card, we will provide a replacement card at the cost of £10.
- You must not lend your membership card to another person. To protect all our members, we may ask to see another form of identification (besides your membership card) before we allow you into the club.
- If another person uses your membership card, we have the right to terminate your membership.
- Respect for Our Staff & Members
- We will not tolerate verbal abuse, threats or intimidation towards our staff or other members. If we find this to be the case, we have the right to report you to the police, to ban you immediately and permanently from our club.
2. We may also cancel your membership in the following circumstances.
3. If you or a linked member breaks or repeatedly breaks the club rules.
4. If another person uses your membership card to get into the club.
- If your linked member or your guest uses rude or abusive language or behaves or threatens in a violent or aggressive way towards any staff or members.
- If we cancel your membership for any reason covered in point 3 we will not accept any future applications for membership and you will not be able to enter as a guest or visitor.
- General Health & Safety
- To protect the safety of all members and guests, you must pay particular attention to all signs relating to health and safety in our club. If you do not understand a notice or sign please ask a member of our team.
- Fire exits are clearly marked throughout the club. If there is a fire or if you hear the fire alarm, you should make your way out of the club through the nearest possible exit to the advertised assembly point in the car park.
- If you suffer an accident or injury in the club, you must report it to a member of our team.
- No smoking or vaping is permitted anywhere in or outside our premises.
- You should not use the club if you have an infectious illness or condition.
- At times the swimming pool will not have a lifeguard on duty. Notices will be displayed on poolside in this instance.
- When there is no lifeguard on duty, under 18’s are not allowed to use the swimming pool.
- All members must use the male or female changing rooms, according to their sex on their birth certificate.
- Children’s Health & Safety
- We welcome children to the club but they must behave responsibly. They must not put themselves or other people in danger or prevent other members from enjoying the club. If your child is behaving unreasonably, we have the right to speak to you or your child about this. If your child continues to behave unreasonably whether on one visit or multiple visits and we are unable to resolve the situation with you or your child, we have the right to suspend the child from using the club.
- Children aged 11 and under must be supervised at all times by a member over the age of 18. Children over the age of 8 eight can use the changing rooms without supervision.
- You must not bring your children into the club if they have an infectious illness or condition.
- Children aged eight or over must use the men’s or women’s changing rooms, according to their sex on their birth certificate.
- Children aged 15 or under must not use the sauna.
- Children using junior gym must be between 12 and 15 years old and must have completed an induction with a member of the fitness team.
- Children using junior gym can only use the gym during junior gym times and can only use cardio equipment.
- Children under 8 must be accompanied in the water by an adult at all times.
- Any children between the age of 8 and 12 can swim independently provided they are at least 1.5 meters tall and can pass a 25 meter swim test monitored by our lifeguard. A member 18 or over must supervise from poolside if they are not swimming themselves.
- Children over the age of twelve who are at least 1.5 meters tall and can pass a 25 meter swim test can swim without an adult on poolside.
- We operate a maximum ratio of 3 children to 1 supervising adult.
- Children are not allowed in the swimming lanes, except when a lane has been named as ‘General Swim’ area.
- Children who are not toilet trained must use a double swim nappy, i.e. a disposable and reusable nappy to prevent leakages into the swimming pool.
- If we have no lifeguard on duty anyone aged under 18 is not permitted to use the swimming pool. Notices will be displayed on poolside saying no lifeguard on duty and staff will inform members of this as they enter the club.
- Gym and Studio’s
- When you signed up for your membership, we would have asked you to read the health commitment statement. A copy of this is on the gym desk for you to view anytime.
- You would have been offered our ‘Kick Starter Program’ when you signed up. This gives you an introduction to the gym and how to use the equipment safely with a member of our qualified fitness team.
- Appropriate clothing and footwear should be used for training in the gym or studios. Anyone wearing jeans, sliders, crocs, flip flops, work boots or any item of clothing we deem not appropriate will be asked to change or leave the club.
- Make sure your gym clothing is clean and that you are deodorized.
- No full contact sparring is allowed under any circumstances.
- In order to maintain a hygienic environment, please use the paper towels and spray provided to wipe the equipment and mats after use.
- You must apply good training techniques and practices when using the equipment and follow any advice from a member of the team to correct your technique.
- If you are unsure how to use the equipment or how to carry out an exercise safely, please speak with a member of staff for advice.
- Lower weights back down gently with control as inappropriate use will cause damage to the equipment and possible injury to yourself or others.
- Replace dumbbells and equipment after use.
- Report any equipment defects immediately to a member of staff.
- No food or drink is permitted on the gym floor or in the studios, other than bottled water.
- Loose jewellery should be removed before exercising.
- Use the available lockers to store your belongings and do not take bags or coats onto the gym floor or studios. Please refer to point 10 for further rules regarding lockers.
- Swimming Pool & Sauna
- The River Bourne Club operates pool lifeguard supervision at select times only. In case of emergency there are panic alarm buttons located around poolside.
- The pool has CCTV but this is not monitored continually.
- You must always follow the instructions of the lifeguard. Anyone who ignores the lifeguard or supervising member of staff, will be asked to leave and your membership could be at risk of termination.
- No outdoor footwear is to be worn on poolside. Please use the shoe covers provided.
- The pool is only 1.2 meters deep therefore we do not permit diving or jumping into the swimming pool, as this could result in serious injury.
- No running or shouting on poolside.
- The use of all electronic devices, including mobile phones is strictly prohibited on poolside, in the sauna and the changing rooms.
- Photographs or video are not to be taken on poolside.
- For health and hygiene reasons, you must make sure you and your children shower and use the toilet before entering the pool. If you use the sauna, you must shower before entering the swimming pool.
- No food or drink is permitted on poolside other than water in a plastic or metal container.
- No glass objects must be taken poolside. If you wish to take drinking water this must be in a plastic or metal container.
- For children using the swimming pool see section 5 ‘Children’s Health & Safety’.
- The sauna is to be used by adults only. (16+)
- Make sure you read the sauna rules and instructions on the outside of the sauna before using.
- You are not allowed to shave, exfoliate, use oils or conditioners in the pool or sauna.
- We may reserve the pool at certain times for adult only swimming, aqua aerobics, lessons or other activities. These will be on the pool timetable and we will do our best to notify you of any changes to these times but on occasions this won’t be possible.
- Floats and inflatables are not permitted in the pool unless they are part of our supervised sessions.
- You are not allowed to use snorkels, masks, fins, flippers, radios.
- Car Park
- Members of the club excluding PAYG and Junior Gym will receive a car park pass for 3 hours free parking each day in the library car park.
- This car park is operated by Runnymede Council and any concerns or issues relating to the car park should be reported to them.
- We do not guarantee that a parking space will be available.
- Your car park pass has an expiry date and a new pass will be available 2 weeks before this expires. It is your responsibility to make sure you are displaying a valid car park pass.
- You park in the car park at your own risk. We do not accept liability for any loss or damage to your car, or personal belongings in it.
- Cycle Rack
- The cycle rack at the front of the club can be used by members to secure your bikes whilst you are using the club.
- You leave your bike at your own risk. We do not accept liability for any loss or damage to your bike.
- Lockers
- You bring all your belongings to the club at your own risk. We do not accept legal responsibility for any loss or damage to these items.
- The lockers require padlocks, you can use your own padlock or purchase one from the club. The padlocks need to be a certain size, please ask reception for information on padlock sizes.
- If you require us to cut your padlock off due to it being faulty, a lost key or forgotten combination you will be responsible for its replacement. We require proof that the items in the locker are yours before you will be permitted to remove them.
- If you request that we remove a padlock and it turns out to be an error, i.e. the incorrect locker, you will be charged £5 for a new padlock.
- We do not allow items to be left in lockers overnight. We check lockers every evening and will cut off the padlocks of any locked lockers and remove the items inside. We will hold onto these items for 2 weeks before disposing of them.
- If you find lost property, you must hand it in to the club reception immediately.
- We retain lost property for 2 weeks before disposing of it. Pleaseask reception for information on lost property.
- Studio & Gym Floor Class Bookings
- Class bookings can be made via the member portal or by calling the club.
- The number of days you can book in advance will depend on your membership type.

- If you do not attend a class and fail to notify us, you may receive a 7 day booking ban.
- Our class waiting list works on a first come first serve basis and if a space becomes available, everyone one on the waiting list will be notified.
- We may make changes to our booking rules from time to time and we will inform you of any changes.
- Photographs & Videos
- You can take photographs and video recordings in the club for your own personal use provided you keep to the following rules.
- You must not take photographs or videos of any children under 18, other than your own.
- You must not take photographs or videos in changing rooms, pool, sauna, toilets, studios.
- Anyone who appears in your photographs or videos must be aware that you are filming them, and you must get their permission first.
- If a member is unhappy that you are filming them and makes a complaint to us, we may ask you to show us any images/video which you have taken in the club and delete them if appropriate.
- If a member of our team asks you to stop taking photographs or filming, you must do so.
- If you breach any of the photograph or video rules, we have the right to terminate your membership.
- Other Rules
- Only food and drink purchased in the club can be eaten in the café.
